J.V. Race Information...
Junior Varsity Race Changes and Information
UPDATED October 5, 2009 @ 12:00 pm

Thank you to the coaches who have called and emailed in recent days regarding our changes in the schedule this year. Certainly, none of us are happy about the elimination of some of the JV races, everyone seems to understand that the safety of the athletes and spectators is our greatest concern; however, we have been discussing this issue and we have come up with a solution that several of the coaches with whom we have talked feel will work for many of the schools.
We will holding one boys and one girls open JV division race on Friday, October 23rd at 11:00 am for the boys and 11:20 am for the girls.
This will officially be part of the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational, a CIF sanctioned event, so all rules and regulations must be followed: athletes must be eligible, in full uniform and be accompanied by an official school coach.
The course will be completely set up for the invitational--it will be the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational: flags, finish chute, starter, etc.
- The two races will be open to only juniors and seniors in all Divisions (I, II, III, IV and V) who are not in a Varsity or JV National Championship race on either Friday or Saturday.
- There will be no entry fee, team awards, scoring and no prior online registration for these races
- There will be no packet pick up or barcodes distributed at packet pick up for JV runners from Division 1 and 2 teams on Friday. Each runner will be given an official Mt. SAC Invite bib to wear.
- JV runners in Divisions III, IV, and V will enter as they normally do with their teams (must be in uniform), but there will be no barcodes or bibs for the athletes who will be running in these open JV races.
- JV runners in Divisions I and II must arrive in uniform and walk through the athletes gate. Division I and II JV Coaches must receive a coaches ticket at the Packet Pick-Up Tent prior to 11:00 am and then enter through the coaches gate. Parents/Spectators must purchase a ticket to enter.
- On the day of the race, coaches must report to the clerk of the course at least 45 minutes prior to the start time of the race, and either bring or fill out an Open JV Race Registration Form listing the names of the runners from his/her school and form signifying he/she is the official representative from that school. - The coach will then be given bib numbers with barcodes for each of his/her athletes to wear
- A display clock will be at the finish line, so each runner will see his or her time. We will re-set the running time on the display clock for the girl finishers 30 minutes after the boys race start time.
- When each runner finishes, his/her barcode will be scanned and official results without names will be posted. The coach and athlete must simply match up the official time/place with the bib number the athlete wore in the race.
- Medals will be provided for the top 15 individual placers 1-15 at the end of the chute (both the boys and girls races)
We would once again like to thank all the coaches who have been so understanding and helpful in working with us to give as many runners as possible this unique opportunity.
