Mt. SAC Relays Ends With A Bang!
Sunday, April 20, 2008
Walnut, CA-The historic 50th running of the Mt. SAC Relays proved once again to be another storied year in the history of the world’s largest track and field competition.  Nearly 15,000 competitors, from youth to world class competitors, competed over 3 weekends and 7 days of competition with over 30,000 fans watching.

The 50th event began with a special banquet of champions which included Olympians of the past and present.  Attendees included Olympic gold medalists, Bob Seagren, Edwin Moses, Donald Quarrie, Ron Brown and many other Olympic medalists.
The Relays concluded with a bang during the final Sunday (April 20) Invitational Day of Champions.  Numerous Olympic Medalists, World Champions and Olympic favorites began their Olympic quest at the 2008 Mt. SAC Relays.  Tyson Gay, the reigning world champion in the 100 and 200 Meters ran blistering 8.8 second leg on the winning Adidas 4 X 100 Meter Relay.  Olympic Women’s 200 Meter Silver Medalist, Alison Felix captivated the audience and media by running down numerous competitors during her spectacular legs of the 4 X 100 Meter Relay and 4 X 400 Meter Relay.

The women’s invitational 200 meters proved to be the premier event of 2008 and was won by Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown, the world 100 meter champion and world 200 meter silver medalist.  Campbell-Brown defeated the star studded field which included 2003 world 100 meter champion, Tori Edwards, reigning 100 meter hurdle world champion,  Michelle Perry and reigning world 400 meter champion, Christine Ohuruogu of England.
